Care and use of Orthotics - Take It Slowly
Home > Care and Use > Take It Slowly
During the first few weeks a number of users notice some discomfort or minor pain. This varies from mild discomfort in the feet to sore muscles in the legs, hips or lower back. This is natural and common. It is a sign that the orthotics are working! It is caused by the feet adapting to the new foot supports, or to the feet muscles being stretched and exercised. Muscle soreness or discomfort in other areas of the body could be a sign of the balance restoration and realignmnet process.
People are advised to take it slowly at the start. Give the feet time to adjust. For the first few days the orthotics should only be used for short periods of time, eg. 20 minutes per day. As the feet adapt, the length of time the orthotics are used can be gradually increased - 30 minutes for the next few days, and so on. Gradually extended the time they are used until it is possible to wear them continuously without the discomfort.
If the discomfort continues after approximately five weeks it is advisable to contact us.
